Owned by ETPM, pictured off Das Island Jetty, where it had put in some new piles. I was testing the pile welds. The full picture shows the jetty as well.
I believe the main hook could lift 500 tonnes. Not a huge amount but thats a long derrick!

This is moored up here: when in position, it releases the legs one by one - they rattle down and sink into the mud. You can see the red jacks around the base of the legs; they relied on clamping the legs rather than the rack and pinion used in other designs.
I joined the barge at the ETPM yard in Sharjah

I have worked on this barge in 1994-95. I have seen an accident when the boom of crane swing and broken down when it was caring a big bridge. A man died at the point.
