Western Europe Light Emissions

This false colour image represents the intensity of light emitted from the surface of the earth at night. The amazing thing here is the 'archipelago' of light sources from the central North Sea. For safety reasons oil platforms are extremely well lit, with lights every few metres on every walkway, but it's surprising to see that some areas of the North Sea outshine some major cities.
