Oil Rig Photos
Failing memory. I've just read that Uncle John lifted the flare boom on. I watched it happen and always thought it was one of the Heerema barges, maybe the Baldur. I remember that the actual lift itself was only minutes in duration. The night that the southern most gas turbine generator was lifted on, an air tugger wire rope broke and allowed the turbine enclosure to swing loose. The dent is still in the bulkead where it swung free. I'm sure that 3 spanish barge crew were lost overboard in this accident. Told that the only body recovered had his lifevest fastened. It was common practice not to fasten vests up till this event. Great job though, and it turned out to be a very happy rig.
