Vol 15, PW 14 (26 Jan 2012) - Exploration & Production
A long-awaited ‘modular rig’ from US-based Nabors Drilling is set to finally arrive at GSPC’s Deen Dayal West field at eastern offshore.
Summary: Rig 805 is expected to reach DDW on Jan 28th. The transport vessel left Houston in Dec and reached Sri Lankan waters last Sunday. Assembly and mounting on the platform will take about 30 days, and drilling is expected to start by end February. Rig 805 is a 3000 hp rig with a 15,000psi BOP stack. It will complete the three development wells drilled by Aban Offshore jack-up Deep Driller-1 since Sept 12 last year, each drilled to 4500m. Rig 805 will also drill and complete 8 more development wells and tie back and complete the four old wells.
