Yes, here we go again. This Bravo platform was a nice place to be, and still is. I was there under hook up time, Brown and Root Mcdermott, and we Norwegians from Brownaker offshore. eat a lot of chocolate as much as you want, that was in the contract with Americans. I still remember blue jeans, general foreman, and Ray Martin as the superintendent. this year was 1978. Loffland Brothers had the drilling onboard. when we was off work, we where staying on Henrik Ibsen, it was rebuildt to hotel platform at that time. It was the same platform as Alexander Kielland who tilt over in March 1980. I have no idea where Ibsen is today. I never meet anyone longer so was with us that time in the northsea tigers anymore. The Englishmen onboard call us that. 14 on 14 off.

The Henrik Ibsen was converted by Lewis Offshore, Stornoway to the "Buchan A" and operated by BP North Sea until Talisman assumed operatorship of Buchan A on 1 January 1997. It still operates in UK North Sea to this day.

Hello Steve, thanks a lot for info about Ibsen. So the rig is still on the go offshore.

Added by Carl Peter Wiig. on 24 December 2011.
The SS Petrolia was on contract with Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico from Feb 2008 to June 2010. When the Pemex contract ended, the rig was mobilised to the Shipyard Ingleside TX and has been laid up there since September 2010, when it was being managed by Merlin Energy Inc. According to Norsk Tillitsmann on the internet, it was thought the rig had gone on contract to Bravo Drilling from about the June 2011 for 2.5 years, however according to RIG Zone the location of this rig rig is N.America GOM.
Operating Status: Ready Stacked
Rig Name: Petrolia
Rig Manager: Larsen O&G
Rig Owner: PetroRig IV

I was working on the Eldfisk 27B throughout most of 1978 during the construction phase. I was employed by Brown and Root (AKA Brownaker) as a piping foreman. I originally worked with Ken Dove, Ray (Heavywall) Martin, and Guy (Blue) Jeans. Fred James was the superintendent and Rick Harris was his assistant superintendent. I lived on the Alexander Kielland about 4 to 5 months during my time in the North Sea. I thank God I was not still working out there when the Kielland turned over. Wow, what memories.
