Semac 1 Lay Barge 36- inch pipe stack on deck

This is the Semac 1 pipe Lay barge in 1978/9 new out dock. I was the only pipewelder from the Netherlands my name is Dirk Bont. First we used electrodes {stick fleet welding} then later CRC Evans semi automatic welding systems. We broke all 36-inch thick wall pipelay recorts in the North Sea. After the season we received a medal and a big party in Rotterdam for everyone who worked on the SEMAC 1. I see on the oilrig-photos site that Lee Robinson seeks contact with people who worked on the Semac around that time. I have pictures of people who worked on SEMAS 1 And I am more than willing to send them to anyone who is intrested. I am loking for the welders working on Semac Frank from the US and Dick Owens from the UK
it was a great team on the Semac. Hard work but we had a perfect time!

I was with the crew that set the barge up for auto welding. Worked on it for next three seasons. Guys on my crew were Loyd Beasley, supervisor. Charley Owens, lead man, Kerry Flanagan, tech, Larry Graham, Tech, Jimbo Floyd , tech, Thomas Whitaker, lead man, R Y Beasley, shop tech, Eddie Overstreet , shop tech. All I can think of right now.
