I was on the sea trials in the Moray Firth. On the speed trial, I believe the speed of the Ocean Alliance over the measured mile was logged at 10.77 knots. I believe at one point she reached a speed of 12 knots. Hardly surprising however, as she had eight thrusters which were rated at a combined output of 32, 000 horsepower. The builders Scott Lithgow and the shipyard workers of Greenock and Port Glasgow had a lot of undeserved criticism over her construction. The quality of their work was first class.

Remember it well, put in a lot of mileage grit blasting the pontoon tanks on night shift. Also worked on the two prior to that Iolair and the Sea Explorer, all still going strong
