I was on Bravo when a storm dislodged the riser - a pity it did'nt dislodge Ted Wright or Rab Galloway.

I was on there in Nov' 77 when we had one of those 100 year storms. I think the wind speed was 132mph and we were not allowed outside the doors for 4 days. People were sleeping on floors and in chairs and the crews on the Vildkat said they never knew sea sickness like it.

I was safety officer on bravo when the gangway broke loose we were flown off to the Shetlands where we spent the night I gave everybody a sub to spend on booze had to make sure they all returned fit for work next day.

I have another picture which shows a huge wave hitting the underside.
It was taken by an electrical engineer called Nick Smyth from the treasure hunter with a practicka 35 mm camera. Shell gave him £80 for the picture.
I also have one taken from the Bravo of the semi on the same day. The waves were unbelievable and I never saw their likes again. It was around 1980 when OPM had the shell construction contract on Brent Alpha
